Novocastrian
In this 21st Century humanity is in an end-game. In every country, people must build an alternative to our environmentally destructive and inequitable way of life. If we do not, our growth-addicted species will continue to do incalculable ecological and social damage to our planet.
Here in Newcastle we face an additional choice—between retaining our distinctiveness, or being swallowed by a Sydney megalopolis sprawling from Kiama to Port Stephens.
The struggle for our planet, and our city, is partly a cultural one. If we here in Newcastle are to preserve our uniqueness we must uncover, and tell, our own stories.
You will find Newcastle stories on this website, tales of our environmental and urban history, our green spaces, our conservation efforts, our coastal ecology, our politics.
In the coming years we plan to add many more.
